Make Money By Tutoring Students from MyTutor
Tutoring students is the main method to make money from MyTutor. MyTutor has two types of tutoring – school programs and private tutoring. All tutors will start with the school program, where you’ll be asked to log into the member dashboard and choose a schedule for the classes you want to teach.
You can take any number of classes, but you must make sure you attend all of them. If you’re unable to attend, you’ll need to request a cover so that MyTutor can arrange a replacement tutor for the session. I’m not exactly sure about the maximum number of requests you can make per month, but there is a limit, so make sure not to abuse it.
Otherwise, MyTutor will view you as an unreliable tutor and will not prioritize you for future opportunities.
Once you have selected the classes, all that is left is to attend the scheduled time and teach the class. Remember that this is an online tutoring platform, so you need to catch your classes online using video conferencing software.
Another way to conduct tutoring sessions is through private lessons. For this method, you need to be selected by MyTutor as a tutor who can conduct a private tutoring session. So, you must do well in the school program to be considered for private lessons, which is why it’s important to avoid canceling classes or requesting cover because it shows that you’re a reliable teacher.
It starts with a request from a parent. Then, MyTutor will find the right tutor for the child, and if it’s you, you’ll get a notification via email or through their mobile app.
If you choose to accept the request, MyTutor will arrange the session for you. All you have to do is to appear within the scheduled time and tutor the student. A key difference between both methods is the number of students.
For school programs, three students will participate in a class, but for private lessons, you only need to tutor one student. School program classes usually pay more because you must tutor more students.
The subjects you can teach will follow the UK education system, but generally, you can teach Maths, English and Science depending on your preference and skills.
Make Money By MyTutor Referral Program
You can maximize your earnings from tutoring through MyTutor’s referral program. You can invite people to become MyTutor tutors by sharing your referral link.
Then, when they apply and are accepted as a tutor, they become your referral. As a reward, you will get £30, which is quite a good amount in my opinion.
How Do You Get Paid MyTutor?
While working as a tutor, you will get paid per class. You will start with a certain base rate depending on the tutoring service you provide.
The minimum amount you can earn per class/session is £12.83 and the maximum is £26.50.
As for the payment method used, you will be paid twice a month directly into your bank account. Lessons completed between the 1st and 15th of each month will be delivered between the 16th and 18th of each month, while lessons completed between the 16th and end of the month will be delivered between the 2nd and 4th of the following month.
How To Join MyTutor?
MyTutor is only offered to people in the UK, so if you are living outside of the UK it’s not available to you. To become a tutor, you must go through an application process. Note that they don’t always accept applications because they want to make sure there aren’t too many tutors.
At this stage, you will be asked to indicate the age group you wish to cater to. You can choose to tutor students aged 7 to 11, 12 to 16, GCSE, A-level, or university.
You will also be asked to indicate the subjects you wish to teach. After you submit your application, you will hear back from MyTutor if they need more information from you, if your application is rejected, or if you are scheduled for an interview.
If you get past the interview period, you will be hired. Then you have to go through a DBS check, which costs a certain amount. This will be paid for by MyTutor, but they will withdraw a certain amount every payday until you pay it off.
Then, you will go through training to learn the basics of working as a MyTutor tutor. It is quite a long process, so if you want to earn immediately, this is not for you.
One thing I like about MyTutor is that you don’t have to have an extensive background as a tutor to get accepted. The site says it’s the perfect job for students and recent graduates, so it might be a good fit for those new to the field.
