PrepNow is a website that specializes in providing tutoring services to students. And yes, it is legitimate because you can really earn by working as a tutor. However, that doesn’t automatically make it the right fit for you.
Make money by Tutoring sessions from PrepNow
Once you become a PrepNow tutor, you’ll be able to hold tutoring sessions to earn. These sessions will be scheduled by PrepNow according to your preference. You can set your availability when you apply as a tutor.
But usually, sessions are conducted during weeknights and weekends, so you are free to do anything during the morning, which makes what PrepNow offers a viable side hustle, in my opinion.
As a tutor, your role is to help students prepare for specific tests like SAT, PSAT, ACT, and SSAT, which are aptitude tests that students must eventually take if they want to go to college. So, your classes will lean towards helping students pass these tests.
The good thing is that you won’t have to create a curriculum because PrepNow provides its tutors with its own curriculum. Now, every tutoring session will be a one-on-one session, so you will only be dealing with one student at a time.
You’ll be using PrepNow’s whiteboard software, which will allow your students to interact with you. You’ll also need to use a headset, a stable internet connection, and a quiet room to conduct your tutoring sessions.
You’ll get paid for every session you complete. So, to sum it all up, once you become a tutor, you will conduct tutoring sessions every weeknight or weekend, depending on your preference.
How do you get paid from PrepNow?
When tutoring students, you’ll be paid by the hour, and the rate will depend on your ranking as a tutor. Your ranking will be determined by your experience and how long you’ve been tutoring for PrepNow.
You’ll be informed of your hourly rate when you go through the onboarding process. Now, how will you be able to withdraw your earnings? Well, the good news is that PrepNow offers a convenient payout method via direct bank transfer.
You also don’t need to hit a threshold to withdraw your earnings. You can just withdraw them anytime you want. That being said, it would be better if you accumulate a significant amount before you withdraw your earnings to save on transaction fees.
How to join PrepNow?
Now, here’s the important part you need to know about PrepNow. As mentioned earlier, it is very strict with who it accepts as a tutor.
As shown in the photo above, you must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year college or university. You also have to have at least two years’ experience working as a tutor. Plus, you must also need either a composite 28 on the ACT or a 650 on the SAT Math and SAT Verbal/CR.
Those are very specific requirements, which means not everyone will be able to qualify as a PrepNow tutor. If you are eligible to join, you must go through the application process.
If the site deems you eligible to become one of its tutors, they will get in touch with you within 1 to 2 business days for the next step, which will be an online interview. After you clear the interview phase, you’ll have to go through the onboarding process, where you’ll be taught the basics of working as a PrepNow tutor.
This will also be the part where you’ll know how much your hourly rate will be. Now, one more thing you need to know before you apply as a PrepNow tutor is that you must be prepared to set aside a minimum of 6 hours of available time for tutoring every week.
If you are not prepared to do that consistently, this opportunity is not for you. And one more thing you need to know is that PrepNow isn’t always hiring tutors. So, don’t be surprised if you try to apply and find out they aren’t currently hiring.
